Just 90 minutes south of Sydney, the Southern Highlands is a landscape of rolling hills, rural farms, quaint farms and pristine bushland. One of the earliest areas of settlement for the early British colonists, the beautiful homesteads and established gardens are popular with tourists and Sydney-siders escaping the city alike.
Most importantly for us, the Southern Highlands is also home to vast swathes of pristine bushland which a great diversity of Australian native birds and animals call home. From kangaroos and wallabies, to koalas, emus, platypus, wombats and echidnas, the Southern Highlands is a surprising delight for those looking for nature. Birds and reptiles abound too - the distinctive lyrebird can be heard (and hopefully seen) throughout the bushland, along with kookaburras, cockatoos, rosellas, galahs and more.
Our Southern Highlands itinerary takes you onto private farm and bushland where you're unlikely to see another soul - all the better for enjoying the nature. This is quintessential Australian bush at its best.
